I am really unfit and have never completed a structured exercise program. Will your program be too hard for me?
The First Mover courses are designed for an absolute beginner to exercise right through to someone who has exercised all their lives. This is because our programs are designed as a course. This format means we take the time to provide modifications for each exercise and movement flow to suit your individual fitness level and injury background. Our education days help provide the support required for you to move through the program in a safe, meaningful and supportive way.
I am fit and already have a regular exercise program. Will your program be too easy for me?
In short no. For individuals with previous exercise experience the First Mover course will strip you back to create a foundation with better technique. The Range Of Motion (ROM) Flow Course will help you identify areas of stiffness and give you a tool bag of fun ROM flow exercises to improve this. The Strength Training Course can be completed as a stand alone strength training program. This also applies to the Balance Training Course. All of the courses will not only challenge you physically, but also challenge and improve body awareness, movement with the breath, and your intellectual and intuitive knowledge of your own body and how it moves.
I suffer from chronic pain and have a history of injury. Will your program accommodate for this?
This is what separates the First Mover program from other exercise programs on the market. As a precaution if you have a current injury or chronic condition we recommend you consult with your treating doctor or trusted physician before commencing our program. There is a reason why literally thousands of therapists such as physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, doctors and more refer their clients to our program. This is because we are physiotherapists and our programs are designed as a course. This format means we take the time to provide modifications for each exercise and movement flow to suit your individual fitness level and injury background. Our education days help provide the support required for you to move through the program in a safe, meaningful and supportive way. As part of our course we also provide workouts that focus on specific areas susceptible to injury such as the neck and low back. If these workouts target your area of injury and are helpful you can like them and they will appear on your dashboard. You can then use them as a stand alone workout or a warm up before moving into something more dynamic.
I noticed each course focuses on one thing but I want to work primarily on strength. Can I just do the Strength Training Course?
This is a common question. Yes you can complete any of our courses individually, however we do recommend completing them in order. We understand this may feel frustrating but we have designed the courses to be completed in a specific order for your long term benefit. The primary focus of the Range of Motion Flow (ROM) Course is to improve your joint ROM, muscle flexibility, and body awareness. This then prepares your body for the Strength Training Course, which in turn prepares your body for the Balance Training Course. It is important to note that within each course you will still build ROM, strength and balance simultaneously. For example in the Strength Training Course you will maintain the gains made from your ROM Course, and many of the strength movement flows will challenge and improve both ROM and balance. In the Balance Training Course you will maintain the gains from the ROM and Strength Course whilst focusing on balance training. In the ROM Course we familiarise you with common health terminology, posture set up, breathing, and key training principles that then help prepare you for the Strength Training Course. We then continue to build this knowledge in the Strength Training Course to prepare you for the Balance Training Course. This is why we recommend completing the courses in a specific order.
What happens when I finish your course. How do I continue my training?
At the end of your Balance Training Course we cover this in great detail. We will educate you on how to customise your own exercise program based on which workouts you found inspiring and which ones you found challenging. We will also advise you on how to structure your program to create balance both physically and emotionally. We also release detailed monthly workouts to keep things inspiring and fresh. These programs will also introduce you to new training techniques and principles. Each month a new workout schedule is released so you never feel stuck with the same program.
Can I do my own exercise while doing your course. If so what type is ok?
If you are an absolute beginner to exercise we recommend you complete the First Mover Course as your only structured exercise program. With all of our courses if you complete regular cardiovascular exercise such as walking, running or bike riding we encourage you to continue these pursuits while completing the First Mover program. This is the same for recreational and sports activities. If you already have a strength training program you can continue with this while completing the Range Of Motion Flow Course. We do not advise continuing your own strength program while completing the First Mover Strength Training or Balance Training Course. This is due to the potential to overtrain certain muscle groups increasing your risk of injury.
If I am having trouble following the course, have questions, or want to give feedback should I email you?
